Intuitive Drawings
These begin with a doodle or even a scribble… sometimes they are with pencil and paper and sometimes playing with drawing on the computer. Using the computer allows more control of precise shapes and building, while taking a blank piece of paper and making scribbles is much more spontaneous. Then the exercise is visualizing a theme or idea that can be enlarged using a projector to make a finished quilt. This gives me an opportunity to explore color and shapes and interactions. To take line drawings from a simple idea or mark on a paper to a completed piece is rewarding. Most of these quilts are appliqué, and sometimes pieced, usually with the edges finished.
